So
you've acquired a
"Classic" Wood Stone
Oven (some might call it "previously loved").
It's true, Wood Stone
builds great equipment that lasts.
In fact, our first oven is still in
operation today and it's important
to us to educate about
the beauty and ease of Stone Hearth Cooking. The more
successful you are, the more successful we are. This is info
should be a good start.
Step 1: What Wood Stone Oven
Model to you Have? It
is also helpful if you can locate the oven's serial number.
Step 2: Get An Installation
Manual Wood Stone
ovens are extremely heavy. You must take care to use
professionals that have the proper equipment to move these
ovens responsibly. Also understand that
Wood Stone ovens are
in most cases
built and shipped in one piece, and
the main oven (upper section) CANNOT BE DISMANTLED.
Ovens that are in
pieces should be avoided. Be prepared to make
construction modifications to your site prior to moving the
oven into place upright and in one piece.
Step 3: Determine the Installation
Requirements and Deal with Venting:
Gas and electrical details are
in the installation manuals. Ventilation
is outlined in our
Venting Guidelines page. Ventilation is a very
important issue and we recommend that you
work with a professional. We would highly suggest
submitting drawings to your local code authorities to meet
the requirements in your area. This is especially
important with Wood Stone Equipment that burns solid fuel
such as wood, charcoal, or coal. Whether
you are
using solid-fuel or gas, Wood Stone
can provide
hoods and
fans
designed specifically for Wood Stone
equipment.
Step 4: Want to Facade Your Oven?
Perhaps you are planning on building a façade wall around
your oven. If this is the case Wood
Stone has designed a variety
of parts that will easily help you get there,
we call them "Facade
Extensions".
To learn
more about how these facade options can
help, visit our Facade Tutorials
page.
Step 5: Getting the Right
Tools
and Accessories:
Once
your oven is up and running it is important for you to
understand how to operate your oven and have the proper
tools
and accessories to do
so.
Wood Stone suggests
purchasing an
oven tool
set with lengths to compliment your specific oven size.
Proper tools help to ensure that
you can properly cook and
maintain your oven's cleanliness.
An oven mantle may have very well been part of your oven
purchase, if not we would highly recommend it.

Step 6: Learn How to Operate a Wood
Stone Oven. So now the oven is installed, it's hooked up and
vented, the facade is built and you've got all the tools.
You're ready to cook. While cooking in a Wood Stone oven is
not rocket science, it is Oven Science, and we've got some tips that
can help! Be sure to check out our
Cooking Education page, as well
as our Training Videos. These resources
will get you pointed down the right path.
