Question 6: How is the oven insulated and how much space will it take in my
kitchen?
printer
friendly version
Wood
Stone puts all of the mass in the cooking chamber’s
materials and not in the surrounding insulating materials.
This maximizes heat use and retention while
minimizing the amount of space required.
In the image at right please notice the 4" of
Spun Ceramic Fiber Insulation around the
Dome and the 4" of light-weight
Rigid Insulation below the
Floor.
By using highly efficient
insulation in just the proper amounts Wood Stone maintains a
1-inch clearance to combustibles while still
minimizing the footprint in the valuable real estate that is your
kitchen. Below you will see why some manufacturer's
ovens require as much as 33% more kitchen space for the same cooking
area as a Wood Stone oven, and why that translates to
thousands of dollars of savings.
|
Example 1
On the left is the footprint of a Wood Stone WS-MS-5. On the
right, another manufacturer's oven using a lower grade insulating material. Dimension
A represents the interior dimension of the cooking
space, which for both ovens in this example is 52". Dimension B
represents the distance to the outside of the oven, including the dome,
insulation and the exterior metal. Dimension C represents
the total floor space impact, including the oven and it's clearance to
combustibles.
The Point: Because we use superior insulating materials,
for relatively the same cooking surface our oven requires much less floor space.

Each Year!
What is the price of kitchen space in your market? $10 a
square foot / month? $25? $50? In this example our oven uses
7.8 less square feet of kitchen space. A little math will tell
you how much you can save, it is more than
you might expect! |

Example 2
On the left is the footprint of a Wood Stone WS-MS-5. On the
right, another manufacturer's oven using a lower grade insulating material.
The dimension markers represent the same points as above, but notice
that the other manufacturer uses less insulation. They achieve
the same exterior dimension as our oven, but do so at the sacrifice
of a much wider clearance to combustibles which ultimately results
in the same impact on floor space in the kitchen.
