Wood Stone
Corporation was given the opportunity to participate in Fourth
Corner Slow Foods 5th Annual Harvest Dinner on
September 12, 2004. Wood Stone provided a wood-fired oven to
aid in the preparation of menu items for over 300 guests that
gathered to celebrate and thank family farmers.
The harvest
dinner was an open-air feast on the Village Green in Fairhaven
and was a sell out success. Some of the menu items included;
artisan bread, pizzette, organic chickens, Puget Sound grilled
king salmon and fresh apple and mixed berry cobblers.
Slow food U.S.A. is a
non-profit educational organization dedicated to supporting and
celebrating the food traditions of North America. They oversee
the Slow Food activities in North America, including the support
and promotion of the activities of hundreds of local chapters,
each called a “convivium”. Bellingham, WA hosts its own The
Fourth Corner Slow Food convivium.
“… we would like to thank
Wood Stone for helping us make the 5th annual harvest
dinner the best ever by providing the “hearth” around which our
community gathered. Your generosity was appreciated by more than
three hundred members of our community including fifty Whatcom
County farmers.”- Fourth Corner Slow Food, Bellingham, WA.
Many people
came together for this event and donated items to make it a
success. All ticket proceeds went to support Whatcom Farm
Friends and Fourth Corner Slow Food. It was a great opportunity
for Whatcom County to thank farmers and supporters of slow food
who focus on farming, food, and culture.
