Wood Stone to attend the 2011 International Pizza Expo!

Wood Stone is looking forward to attending to International Pizza Expo in Las Vegas, March 1-3. With over 4 football fields filled with nothing but pizza-related things,  it’s the show to attend for all things PIZZA!

Wood Stone will be setting up in Booth #1675 where we will showcase several of our stone hearth ovens. However, there will be another three Wood Stone ovens being used at the show:

  1. Tony Gemignani – Chef/Owner of Tony’s Pizza Napoletana will be using a Wood Stone oven for his demonstrations.  Tony is  a 9 time world pizza champion, President of the World Pizza Champions Inc.  2 Time Food Network gold medalist, author and Guinness Book of World Record Holder.  Be sure to catch Tony’s dough demonstrations 9-10am each day of the show at the Inside Exhibit All in the Convention Center.
  2. Antimo Caputo – Wood Stone is honored to be the oven that the Pizzaiolo from Napoli will be using to prepare their wonderful Caputo flour based pizzas at the show.  Make sure to visit their booth, #875.  
  3. A Wood Stone oven will also be present in the International Pizza Challenge area for others to cook with during the contests and demonstrations.

Wood Stone is also excited to hear the keynote from customer Joe Fugere on day two of the show. Joe is the owner of Tutta Bella Neapolitan Pizzeria, the Pizza Today™ 2010 Independent of the Year. Congratulations Tutta Bella.  Congratulations Tutta Bella.

Wood Stone to bring Josper & Plancha to NAFEM

Josper by Wood StoneA recent Retaurant Hospitality article, Bringing the High Heat, outlined the opening of a grandiose new restuarant, At.mospheres, in Dubai. As if its location in the tallest building in the world wasn’t enough, it’s just another one of the restuarants outside of the US who have set themselves apart by discovering the joys of cooking with a Josper.

Wood Stone is proud to announce that we will have a Josper, as well as a Plancha suite, (also mentioned in the article) at Booth #435 at the NAFEM Show in February. Hopefully you’ll swing by to see it for yourself!

Wood Stone’s Presidents turn 60!

And what a party it was! Appropriately 60s-themed, the family, friends and staff at Wood Stone came together last Saturday to celebrate this milestone birthday for both Keith and Harry. Entertainment ranged from a live band to a few costumed staff  & family members singing original songs to a song written and performed by Keith for Harry – “The Legend of Harry and the Orphanage.” What a night! Flavors of Spain - Josper by  Wood Stone

Recently, Wood Stone kicked off the North American debut of the Josper by Wood Stone Charcoal Broiler Oven via events both here in our test kitchen and in Denver, CO. Chefs Manu and Marcelo were very pleased to be able to share their passion for food and the Josper through the presentations, and the Team at Wood Stone was very happy to be able to bring it all together. We believe the Josper by Wood Stone will be one of the exciting new pieces of cooking equipment on the American culinary scene!

Wood Stone Company Picnic 2009 – ADMIT FUN

This year’s Wood Stone employee company picnic was held at Birch Bay State Park.  Wood Stoner’s could easily be identified by their yellow shirts that sported admission tickets to a carnival themed event - complete with great food, carnival themed games and activities.  The highlight of the day was the dunk tank!  Company presidents, Keith Carpenter and Harry Hegarty took turns being submerged in gallons of water.  Fellow co-worker, Tim Tracy, even took a turn in the tank.  Thank you to everyone who contributed and participated this year – it was fun!  Check out photos submitted by Wood Stone employees from the event.

Chef Summit 2009

Wood Stone was excited to host the first ever Chef Summit this past week on August 6th-7th.  The goal of the Chef Summit was to assist our rep’s cooking facilitator(s) to be comfortable and successful with hosting a Wood Stone test kitchen visit.  

The Chef Summit is not a standard  training event.  Wood Stone welcomes such visits, but this training was designed to be far more specialized. The Chef Summit covers the full Wood Stone product line from a food preparer’s perspective and offers suggestions on how to get the most out of a test kitchen visit while keeping the visit simple and cost efficient.
